Been looking for a good Parilla 250 for more than a year. A friend said this guy in St Paul had one left from a collection he had purchased a few years before -- he was a Laverda collector and wanted to move this bike.
Stole it for about 1/3 of it's value, including a bunch of parts; enough to rebuild, commutator, tons of extra switchgear, the tire pump, and more -- even a rare Smith's chronometric "D" tachometer with TWO new in the box Parilla-logo faceplates!
The bike runs great. I put more than 600 miles on it this fall and now it's in thousand pieces, with the frame off to the powder coaters and the chrome being redone. A new silencer is coming from Germany, and I found a tank to replace the Benelli that is on there now.
This bike has it all. Period Bates seat. Motobi-style bars. SS1 carb. Remote Float bowl. HiCam motor with fresh rebuild. Cast Aluminum Tool Boxes. The best that Italian Engineering was putting out 50 years ago.
Now I need a Moto Morini Tresette or a Gilera 175. Small bikes rule.
very nice indeed...........please post the finished product.
Thanks! I surely will.
Hi Dan, Can you sell me one of the D style tach faces you have? I am restoring a 175 GS. Thank you, Larry
Possibly - contact me off-list -- you can find me at http://www.chasingmotorcycles.com
The holidays are crazy right now, but send me an email through there and we can talk about it -- I'll get a picture together for you! You can also look at the Parilla Wiki that I am working on. Always nice to hear about more Parilla folks!
Thanks
