I bought these fish about two months ago. I had no idea what they were, but they had that "feel" to them. I put them down a couple of times, but just decided to go with my gut. I did some surface research with no luck, then got busy and they just fell off my plate.
This morning I was having my coffee and reading some of the thrift/collector blogs that I enjoy. One of them had a bird that looked kind of like my fish. Research was on!
Say hello to my Abraham Palatnik fish. He was a Brazilian artist and inventor. He created these sculptures by screen printing one half of the acrylic and then molding the second piece to it. (60s and 70s) He became highly collectable after a bunch of famous American interior designers started showcasing his work. Apparently these are hard to find, especially in Australia. Not sure if this part is true, maybe Ozmarty or V could chime in.
Thanks Bellin, Ivan and Toolate!
Wow worked late!

The fish are wonderful, you were smart to trust your gut.
