    Hello,
I have been combing through the internet trying to find out information about an old Guardian fire extinguisher that I have owned for 25 years.

If someone could give me even a rough idea of when this was manufactured and what approximate value this might have to interested collectors, I would be most grateful. Here are the particulars:

Vintage Copper & Brass Guardian Fire Extinguisher - Empty
2.5 gallon loose stopper type No. A Serial Number 943912
Brass and copper cladding in good to very good condition
No dents or pitting – a few minor scratches
    Hose has surface cracks
No oxidization on brass or copper - I think it must have been lacquered
Brass plate lettering is bilingual (English-French)
Measures 24” tall by 7 1/4” in diameter

I know from the bilingual lettering that this was probably manufactured in Canada - where I live.

    Thank you for your help.

I know this is a very old post, but...
This particular model was first patented by the DuGas Fire Extinguisher Company in 1928, and other companies started using the same design. Guardian extinguishers of this type are generally listed as being from the 1930s and made in Brockville, Ontario, Canada.
According to the Brockville Museum, "By the mid-1930s, Brock Machinists and Welders were manufacturing 'Guardian' fire extinguishers in a plant located at Brock and William streets (near the north end of the tunnel). The Brock Street manufacturer was known as the Brockville Fire Extinguisher Co. by the late-1940s and as Guardian Manufacturing Limited from 1951 until it closed in the late 60s. As early as 1936, fire extinguishers made in Brockville were being shipped as far away as Halifax and Vancouver. The factory suffered an ironic set-back on June 22, 1950, when a fire broke out on the premises. The Brockville Museum has a made-in-Brockville Guardian fire extinguisher on exhibit in our upper gallery."
