Just bought this yesterday at a HUGE antique barn sale for $12. Usually I wouldn't of bought this cause the yellow ones are from the 50's. But this one has the art deco like lettering, the same as the wooden 6 pack carriers, although those are much rarer. I would think it's from late 30's or the 40's. It's in rough shape, but it's it was too cool to back down from it for a measly 12 bucks. Any body else have info on this carrier?
A friend of mine who is now retired from Coke, told me the plant he managed had a company picnic and burned over a 1000 wooden coke shells.
I just bought one from a barn sale also, I gave $8.00 for it. Mine is not as clean as yours, but it is the exact same one.
I have two red ones that look brand new and never used. I like them for display, but I'm guessing that they are pretty common.
Good buy, I have a yellow one from Chat. 1969.
I, too, have one that I found in a storage unit today. I am a storage unit owner and I had to clean out a unit and there it was, a piece of history. I really did not want to keep it but I thought "Why Not" because it was looking pretty old. Now, I understand because it is so very old. Thanks for your input.....
By the 60s, they had dropped the deco lettering and went with more of a block style.
