Can anybody tell me anything about this?I can tell its very old and im thinking Hopi Jar.It stands about 4" tall and about the same round.Thanks

It's not Art Nouveau, that's for sure. You will want to look for dirt deposits and scratching on the surface to suggest that it may have been buried. If not, then it's likely modern(ish).
Maybe Jemez? Jemez and Hopi look similar but I haven't seen Hopi pottery with black on the bottom.
Or acoma paublo?

Check out http://www.rarepottery.info. its a great reference site for native American pottery.
At a passing glance, it looks like Hopi, but the designs are really weird? And like Sara said, the black is unusual. I'll tell you what, that type of clay is very common to Mexican pottery, and that makes me think its a Mexican copy of a Native American pot

Well black or deep brown, its not much of a difference... And either way, you don't see it on Native American pottery
