This is an old typewriter desk from Northwestern Furniture Co, of Milwaukee Wisconsin. Picked it up off of a craigslisting. It is by far my favorite piece of furniture- the best part? It was only $50!
Does anyone know anything more about the company or these desks?
it is very nice... any more pices.. \\
How's that? Do you mean do I have anymore furniture pieces as nice as this? Ha, not hardly. I have collected things all my life but its only been about two years or so that I "really" started.
Gorgeous desk & typewriter.
Awesome desk!
I have a very similar desk, walnut-toned wood, brass drop-hinged drawer handles, black linoleum inset top. The middle drawer has slanted adjustable wood files, the top and bottom drawers have adjustable wood dividers. The detailing on the drawers is same as yours. There is carved curved molding around the entire upper perimeter. It is gorgeous! Yours looks more like mine than any I have seen yet. I found mine at a yard sale in Muskegon County, Michigan, in the late 80's. I would like very much to know more about it.
This looks like a home version. These were very popular and used heavily in Government furniture until they were disappearing in the 1980's. some of the gov't furniture sites show many of these esp starting 1950's. Saw one such site a short while ago.
