heres more guitar pics... nothing back there.. patent no looks like 2737_42... but the definitely dont look like they are for this guitar... they are drilled into the cover.. n it looks cut a little to fit them in..
just got around to research, 2737-842 was a gibson pick-up patent...
Yes, those are genuine Gibson Mini humbuckers from the early 70's. I've had a few of them along with vintage humbuckers. You can tell from the patent sticker and wiring.
thanks RobVee!!!!
I think they predate 70's ? heres a person maybe you should ask,,,,try TINICUM GUITAR BARN google it there's a number for the shop ask Carl if he knows, they may be verry old n rare, good to know on what guitar they were used. he deals with old electronics like this on a daily basis, and has built a guitar or two .
http://home.provide.net/~cfh/paf.html try reading this it offers a total history on PAF pat applied for p-90 humbuckers, these were used on a veriety of steel guitars, les pauls, magnet size will help date yours
your missing # is 8
notice the insulation on the wire, its pre 70's I think
I think the website solves some mystery
They use that same braided wire up to today. The mini's were originally made by Epiphone until Gibson bought Epi. out in the 50's, Both Gibson and Epi. used them from the 60's up until today. The ones in the picture are black (I believe the covers are plastic, from what I can remember) and not gold or nickle. If they are gold or nickle thary can be the older ones. They used the black ones in SG 2's and specials from the early 70's (maybe even late 60's ?). See: http://cdn1.gbase.com/usercontent/gear/3081323/p1_u432buxcu_so.jpg . If they look like the one in this picture, they are from the early 70's era. But I could be wrong. Hope that helps.
thanks string and rob!! =)
all your input is helping figure out a little more history =)
