This is my New Home model # 672 sewing machine. It was given to me not knowing if it worked or not. I spent an afternoon cleaning and oiling it up and I'm happy to say it runs perfectly! Now I just need to track down the manual for it. The pictures were taken before I cleaned it up.

I have my manual and would be happy to scan it in for you if you haven't found it yet. I haven't gotten my working yet but it seems to just need some oil!

Hi, I have inherited my late mother's New Home #672 sewing machine with lots of templates and reels. It works (well ... the foot goes up and down and nothing catches fire when I apply power and pressure to the pedal). I'm determined to learn how to use it as I have memories of my mother using it to make clothes repairs, curtains, dresses, embroidered patterns and denim jeans - but I need help on two matters and would be very grateful for your support and advice:
      1) Can anyone please advise me how to clean and oil it (Bexi?)
      2) Please could someone scan and email the manual to me?
      Any support appreciated!
      Regards,
      Carmody

I just purchased this machine without any attachments or manual. If someone was able to find the manual, please let me know where or if you have one scanned can you send it to me? wildharefiber@gmail.com

      Hi, fibergirl1. :-)

CW user etyroler doesn't seem to be a very active CW user, with zero posts, and exactly one comment (the one in this post). I have no way of knowing whether they ever scanned their copy of the manual, and provided it to any of the other CW users who've asked for it. :-(

Apparently Janome used to offer PDF copies of the manual for the New Home 672 (Janome is the company that bought New Home), but I don't see it out there any more:

      https://www.janome.com/support/retired-machine-manuals/

This outfit offers PDF copies for download. They call it the Janome 672, but it looks the same to me:

      https://www.sewingmachinesplus.com/manual-j-672-en.php

Compare the picture of the Janome 672 with the New Home 672 at this non-free vendor site:

      https://manualsoncd.com/product/janome-672-sewing-machine-instruction-manual/

Or if you don't trust that, here's a non-free download of a PDF manual for a New Home 672:

      http://www.sewusa.com/Sewing_Machine_Manuals/New_Home_Manuals/New_Home_672.htm

If none of those options suit you, you can try joining the vintage sewing machine group on Facebook:

      https://www.facebook.com/groups/VintageSewingMachines/

They have a member who maintains a digital library of about a thousand manuals for various makes and models of vintage sewing machines, and they might have that one.

Hmm.. what about new industrial sewing machines https://sewstar.com.ua/ua/category/promyshlennoe-shveynoe-oborudovanie/mashiny-chelnochnogo-stezhka/odnoigolnye/

What model do you recommend for sewing bed linen? I'm in Ukraine, so the model range and number of brands is limited. Budget for purchase - approximately $400

      Hi, Victoria_Smith. :-)

I'm so sorry about the terrible war. :-(

I imagine that causes supply chain problems, to say the least.

I'm afraid that I'm not the best person to ask, as I don't do much sewing these days. I mostly surf the Net.

A quick look around suggests that people who sew large things like quilts recommend a machine with a long arm and a large harp space, which is why I suspect you're looking at industrial machines.

Per the National Bank of Ukraine, USD$400 would be UAH 14,627.44 currently:

      https://bank.gov.ua/en/markets/exchangerate-chart?cn%5B%5D=USD&startDate=2022-09-24&endDate=2023-10-01

I don't know if you're limited to what you can get on that sewstar site, but one good general purpose heavy duty machine that I can personally recommend (because I bought one for my sister) is the Janome HD1000:

      https://www.amazon.com/Janome-HD1000-Heavy-Duty-Machine-Stitches/dp/B001I1IZ2K

Failing that, I would suggest that you ask the regulars at one of the websites below:

      https://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1/

      https://www.victoriansweatshop.com/

      https://leatherworker.net/forum/forum/50-leather-sewing-machines/

      https://www.facebook.com/groups/VintageSewingMachines/

They're all very knowledgeable, although that Facebook group is pretty much a black box to anybody who isn't a member (which includes me).

      I'm sorry that I can't be more helpful. :-(

      Victoria_Smith, You're welcome, for what it's worth.

      I'm sorry that I couldn't be more helpful. :-(

Hopefully, the serious sewing machine enthusiasts with a lot of hands-on experience can advise you.

I have this exact machine New Home #672 in the desk with 4 drawers. Works very well. I found this on Craigslist, the gentleman was selling for $40 and included original manual, box of cams, box of original tools and drawers loaded with shears, unused notions and other accessories. Just took it in to get a tuneup and they thought it was in great shape. When I get a few minutes, I can scan the manual and attach to this thread.

Here's a helpful video for stitching with the cams. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NeIh1H3yLdo

      Hi, ajneyland. :-)

That's very generous of you to offer a scanned version of your manual. Unfortunately, the Collectors Weekly Show & Tell forum software doesn't allow of commentors on a post to add content, only links to content that's hosted somewhere.

Usually, I suggest that people make a post of their own, because then they can add up to four pictures (JPGs or PNGs) per post, but I don't think that would work well for you, because if memory serves, the manual is a lot longer than four pages.

You could offer to email a copy to any interested parties, or email a copy to me (my email address is in my profile).

Alternately, you could offer a copy to one of the dedicated VSM enthusiast forums, e.g.:

      https://www.facebook.com/groups/VintageSewingMachines/

      https://leatherworker.net/forum/forum/50-leather-sewing-machines/

      https://www.victoriansweatshop.com/

Thank you for the link to the cam video. :-)
