Until someone tells me I'm wrong (in about 5 minutes, I'm guessing!), I think this is a Loetz bowl. It bears a striking resemblance in decoration to the production drawings for Ausf 96 found in Ricke II and in Cantz. Some may find it an acquired taste – my husband is horrified by it, as it is rather large and imposing. I love it!
Well the 5 minutes are up, and the verdict seems to be I've got it right for once, so I've changed the title. Hurrah!
Its 100% Loetz an a fantastic example at that. Congrats.

I bet it was a nightmare to make. There are 2 clematis stems on it - each starts at the top of the handle and then winds round one side with leaves and flowers attached, ending just before the handle on the other side. Each flower is different and stands so proud of the bowl, and above the rim and below the curve to the foot that I'm amazed there isn't more damage. It almost seems designed to get broken!
O! I didn't realized you surrounded your Lötz Clematis with actual clematis!!! :) The ones in our terrace are different (light pink, smaller, with only four petals) so it took me a time to realize what they were :)

AH, Scandinavian-pieces and I have been commenting on clematis as well as glass recently, hence the reference. I collect clematis too!
I have a postage stamp London garden, but there are 7 varieties flowering at the moment. This one, I believe, is a Barbara Jackman. From the sound of yours, it will be some form of Montana - like the one pictured with my Webb iris glass, and some of my other early posts. Some have 4 petals, some 5 (like the bowl) and some 6. There are even more varieties of clematis than there are Loetz and Kralik decors!

Oh no, Ozmarty! That wasn't the plan - I was inspired to post by your fabulous tulip! That gives any clematis a run for its money.

Ah, Austro, I might not know much about glass, but I'm ok on clematis! My montana's an Elizabeth.
:) Ours already lost its flowers, they're now full of the "feather-ish whatever they're called", haha. After this, they will get that "spiderly look"
I do love clematis seed heads, AH, some are even prettier than the flowers! Montanas have such a short season ....

Pretty big - just over 5" to the top of the handles, about 8" widest diameter. I think hubby might hate it less if it were smaller. It's been relegated to my home office, where I can gaze all day and it doesn't offend him! He prefers Austrohungaro's aesthetic.
Well, I wouldn't mind to have this one on my desk ;) but I have to admit, one year ago I couldn't imagine myself loving this stuff... I guess that's love, LOL

Thanks austrohungaro! I really hope that means hubby will get to love my glass as well as me, but I somehow doubt it! Mind you, he showed some interest in a little piece of papillon today, so maybe there's hope yet ...

Unbelievable! Well, if it's any good, I'll have to let you have some pics - but I'm not posting them on here! My boys love Shaun - and Timmy the Sheep too! That is definitely a new variation on counting sheep to get to sleep - I love it. Who would have thought ;)
hahaha :) well, I think I always liked everything British... when I was living in Ireland I wouldn't miss Ballamory on TV with my breakfast ;) (What's the story in Ballamory?" LOL) I love other Brit stuff such as (old) Spaced and Black books... I guess that culturally I alwauys was sort of an anglofile...
OMG - Balamory! Now I have no chance of getting that song out of my head for the next three days. I've had 5 years of Balamory, too. We live on CBeebies in this house - unless it's Peppa Pig. I suspect you would like Peppa Pig.
But I think Balamory makes you a Scotophile. My mother-in-law lives in Edinburgh, and the Scots won't forgive you for ascribing Balamory to the English! Worse than ascribing Webb to Loetz!

Well, Whipsnade and the Championsheeps were great, no rain and I even got sunburned! Ok, yes I do burn sitting under a cloud in November. The pageant - well, I didn't see a lot, I'm a wee bit short. My son, however, got a great view of HM by standing on my shoulders and holding on to a tree. My back will never be the same. I should have taken a ladder! Again we missed the rain - it started just as we went in through the front door having gone home after the barge passed. The advantages to living 10 mins walk from Lambeth Bridge are greater than just transport, it seems! Being in the crowd, the sounds, and the music from the river was a great experience. We walk up to see the fireworks every New Year, but this was on a different scale. Amazingly we then did not get rained on at the Monday street party either. Perhaps the universe is trying to tell me something? I hope it's good news ...
I vote for outside every time - whatever the weather! We didn't stay too long at the river though - best of both worlds, bit of river, followed by tea and cake at home watching it on the box!
Can't wait to see those photos!
