This was my nana and popa's - I have always loved it and recently retrieved it from the shed where my father had chucked it - hence the scratches.
I am seeking information about this work - the artist - date etc. I haven't been able to find out much.
It is signed I HENNER
This is Fabiola, patron Saint of nurses and abused women. The artist is Jean-Jacques Henner. The original was painted in 1885.

Hello MawamaMama THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!! - I didn't realise she was a saint so that's extra neat. The article was very interesting and yes I can imagine a room full of these would be hypnotic!
I am so excited to have discovered what this was - thank you SO much!
You are welcome. I love Fabiola.
Very nice painting - so glad you have it, flowerrose. Also fascinated by MawamaMama's linked article.
Thanks miKKo! Yes I love it and so glad I retrieved it from the old shed!
