I like the look of this original oil painting I bought at an estate sale of an elderly couple for $2 dollars. Would this be considered fine art or folk art. Am I right in saying it is in a semi- impressionist style. Has anyone seen this signature before or know anything about the artist. The size is 12 x 18 inches.

Fine art. Folk art is usually considered as done by someone untrained in art, just 'regular folk'. This painting was done by someone quite accomplished. I love it!

I would suggest you have it reframed. The current frame is quite dated and not too attractive. A good frame will make it look very classy.
