Found this beautiful sewing machine in an estate sale this morning. I LOVE the decorative plates on the machine. The machine came with the case and additional accessories. The woman that sold it to us told us it belonged to her mother and she used it recently. This is my first sewing machine and I was able to date it from the serial number (AB 1438778) however does anyone know if this is a certain model? I'd love to get any other additional information on it. Thanks!

This machine has been modified - it is a model 66, one of 50,o00 commissioned on July 8th 1926. It looks like the original decal might have been Filigree, but it's been restored and had the after-market stitch length controller added. It is not in the original base/case.

That's great information Bernadette! Thanks so much! I'm new to the older machines so I had no idea. The decals are kind of faded. Do you know if it's possible to have them restored?

You can sometimes find reproduction decals on line, but I wouldn't touch your machine - it has it's own story :) Whatever you do now will only reduce it's authenticity. But if you really want to, look into it carefully before you try anything, as what you do will be irreversible.
