For some reason I have a collection of candlesticks. Candles? Candlelight? Romance? Nostalgia? Perhaps they are more available? They are cheap – I like cheap! No one loves them anymore? Like decanters, they are superfluous in the new millennium?
I found these at the Rozelle markets about five years ago and brought them home for a clean, aal that was needed was just a wipe with a silver cloth - that worked, suggesting silver-plated ware. There are no identifying marks at all. Lots of work in them, however: two rings with 36 struts welded top and bottom, a platform for the candle holder attached with fine welds I think. 7 cm (2.75") across at the bottom and 9.5 cm (3.75")at the top. They are 10 cm (3.9") tall.
They reminded me of the Warren Platner furniture (1919 – 2006) for Knoll. Has anyone any idea about who made these?
Many thanks Sean B!
Great design! it made me think of Plattner's chairs at once!
Many thanks austro and Phil too!
Cool V! I agree with PhilDAM, I think it is the tapers that aren't as popular, but votives and column candles are really popular.
Thanks Amber! you're right about the votives. Tomorrow is the Robert Welsh sticks.
