Rare 1860 Print by Utagawa Yoshiiku (1833-1904) of a Parody of the Chushingura's Tale. I purchased this around 1990 from Maryanne Hegeman who inherited it from her father who traveled the world in the 1920s.

A copy of this was exhibited at the Ukiyo-e Ota Memorial Museum of Art last month.

this is the belated creative reaction by means allegory of the Tenpo reforms historically , so it is not only of artistic but also of considerate historical value

consequence counterreaction counter by means of Einosuki Moriyame in 1848 , caused the cave in of the Tokugawa Shogunate

date 1860 is also right i see , rather logical by the the way otnerwise the publisher would likely be Hirokaya Kosuke and the paper looks also right which means no mulberry, so bring in the boose

thank you apostata. i think that the cats each represent a political figure of the time. it was a punishable crime to openly criticize politicians / government people at the time and kabuki was a more subtle way to do it.

i am not allowed to evaluate
      but first it is pristine
second of all it is extremely rare , the neko (cat ) or sakana( period fish)
and it also an collector item because of the small timespread of the in mine rather rather wierd publisher Horikoshi

it took actually an awfull lot to be sure

personally i think down the line retail this an easy 4 figures
