Lund & Co, Percy. | St. John Camera. | 1890. | Half Plate.
Catalogue No. 0230.
At St. John's Street, Bradford, until 1894, when they moved to Godwin Street, Bradford. Originally printers and publishers, they opened a photographic department around 1890, offering Photographic Materials and this St. John Camera with screw focusing and unusual tilting back. They sold the Photographic Department to R.J. Appleton & Co., of 58, Manningham Lane, in Bradford, in 1896. Percy himself was a noted photographer who exhibited at the RPS exhibition of 1898, and author of several books on photography, as well as producing "The Practical Photographer" and "Junior Photographer" monthly magazines at his printing works. This St. John camera was in pieces when it came to me, but it has cleaned up nicely and the bits have gone together well enough for display, although the focusing screen is absent.
Thanks to all for "loves"!
