I see 19th century images of children on rocking horses on a regular basis-- they must have been a regular prop in many studios.

This is the first time that I have seen an adult on a rocking horse.

The image is an uncased tintype and dates from the 1880s.

Reproduction of this image in any form is not authorized.

Wow! humor in a tintype? rare as hen's teeth!
    10. scottvez scottvez, 12 years ago
Agree it is unusual. Especially in this pre- novelty era tintype.

I have seen early 20th century novelty tintypes that are humerous, but ones from the 19th century are far harder to come by.
