Hi ABCDE. This looks very interesting to my eye. Could you add a photo of the base of the vase, underneath? A close-up of that wavy foot and mouth might help too. Ithink it is a big beauty!.

ditto, also are there any markings or glass canes in the glass (like a tiny candy cane?) sometimes markings can be very hard to see. you might have to take it to bright light and sort of twist it this way and that in the light. Sometimes blowing on the glass so there is a fog will also make a mark temporarily show up if it's there.

Three further images; under base, top from above, base side view. Outside of vase smooth, slightly ridged inside neck and presumably to base. Quite dirty inside bowl, long cotton bud needed I guess. Milky effect within undulations of flared 'collar' of top, and the clear glass there distorts ridges of carpet against which background it was photographed to appear as u-bends.

Hi, very nice! Does it glow under black light?
    5. ABCDE, 13 years ago
Thank you for appreciative comments. Londonloetzlearner: I shall take vase to dark room and hold over an electric light...

yeah, it really does look like it should glow. This piece reminded me of Mr Vaseline glass's vase that had the Schneider candy cane.

I'll have to go looking for it and see how similar they really are.

nope they are nothing alike never mind.

      John Walsh Walsh, England?
      Or
      Thomas Webb, again England?

It reminds me a little of a vaseline vase of mine which I think may be Thomas Webb, hence asking whether it glows. Interesting that Vetraio50 came up with Webb independently ...

The whole vase has been beautifully wrought.
The colour of the metal is interesting too, it must be vaseline glower!
Harry Powell, James Powell & Sons, early Whitefriars?
I hope Leah Goodwin sees this one!

      Most beautiful and very unusual!

Glass does not glow like uranium/vaseline as shown in photographs. Looks pretty but just lit up.
I am really appreciative of your interest to identify this vase. Keeping fingers crossed.

Hi, if you just held it over an ordinary electric light, it wouldn't glow. Did you try a UV lamp? You might be pleasantly surprised! I'll try and post my vase, different but similar, for comparison.

Powell is a definite possibility - take a look at this in the Stourbridge glass museum - http://gorgeousglass.org.uk/collections/getrecord/DMUSE_BH1683b/

No glow under UV. The Powell at Stourbridge, for which many thanks, has a very similar 'feel'; wavy foot, blue pearly colour in top 'frond', fun with twists, glass type seems similar; clear to soapy in one piece. Further comments welcomed!

Definitely not the same as mine, then (http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/59387-stourbridge-vase#comment-186758) - but I'm glad you agree Powell looks like a good bet. I thought there were a lot of similarities!
