Antique Victorian Stanhope Rosary.
An oddity, Stanhopes were very popular in Victorian times. I love the novelty of Stanhope items and they are so rarely found in good order these days. The tiny little lense that holds the Stanhope image so often damaged or the image missing.
I was pleased to be able to take a close up photograph of the image of the Virgin Mary as it was seen inside the Stanhope.
A lovely memento of a time gone by and a wonderful devotional tool.

The prayer looks like it is in four languages: French, Spanish, Italian and English.
Ô Marie, conçue sans péché, priez pour nous qui avons recours à vous
O María, concebida sin pecado, orad por nosotros que recurrimos a vos
O Maria, concepita senza peccato, prega per noi che ricorriamo a te
O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee
This prayer is related to the Miraculous Medal.
