I found this little Ornamin tray/dish at a yard sale this weekend. I am trying to figure out exactly what it was used for. It measures 6"x8" and has a slightly raised edge on one side then slopes down to a curve at the other end. I saw some listings for tip trays,,but they were not in this particular shape. I dont believe it is an ashtray.. It was made in Great Britain. I am thinking about 1970s vintage. Anyone have any other ideas.? Thanks in advance for your comments.
I have a similar plate somewhere in my ash tray stuff (different advertisement). I was told it was used in a smoke shop where you could buy different grades of tobacco. The type tobacco you wanted to try was put in one of these trays and you rolled a cigarette out of it so you could see if you liked it.
Thanks fhrja2 ...Good information. I figured it was more than an ashtray...Thanks again
Hello Clockerman,
I think that fhrjr2 is correct. Like you I agree that it doesn't look like an ashtray
I thought it might be an advertising change tray, but what fhrjr2 said sounds more likely
Cool item.
Thanks for the comments and the love Budek
