This is an impulse purchase some 18 years ago from the Portobello Road Antique Market in London. The dial is not signed, and the movement says 'THE SCOUT registered' & 'Swiss Made'. The silver case is stamped with 'ADC', '0.935' & with the numbers '67211'. Any further information on its origin, period and guide valuation will be very much appreciated. Thank you for looking.

      Hi,
I see hammers so it must be a pump repeater. It is called a demi-hunter because of the hole in the front cover. It has the proper double spade hands for this type of watch. I can also see it is solid gold from the marks. The movement is very well made. It is not jeweled through the hammers, which would be the icing on the cake so to speak. It may be a minute repeater but my guess is that it is a quarter-hour repeater. It is a highly collectable and very valuable watch. It wasn't made by Scout as this is the model not the maker. A lot of these Swiss-made watches were not signed.
      I hope this helps,
      Jim

Very unique design, I don't have anything to add to the mysteries end. I do think it's a great looking piece, hope someone has an answer. Will be watching for other responses.

Beautiful watch!! If you're wondering about the case, I may be able to help you. I was wondering if you can tell me what the hallmarks are on the inside under the 0.955 marking? It looks as if there are 3, in a triangle/pyramid arrangement. One just under the 955, and then two others under it, side by side. I can't tell much about them because of the reflection of the watch works inside even after I downloaded and enlarge the photo. I can see either a lion rampant, or perhaps more likely a bear since that is a Swiss mark. If you would like me to check this out for you, please let me know. I would just need a picture of the markings so I can actually see them clearly or you can describe them. I'd be more than happy to do it for you! :-)

Thanks MooreAntique, chinablue, packrat-place & Dave for the 'Love'.
Kerry, I did get the Bugs Bunny watch but I think it needs some major work to get it going!

Hello chinablue, thanks very much for your kind offer to check the hallmarkings for me. I have looked very closely with an eye loop and all 3 markings under '0.935' shows a prancing bear or a dog. The one directly under '0.935' is smaller and has a shield shape surrounding it. The side by side markings are identical but without the shield. Above the '0.935' also has the marking 'ADC'. Any further information on the watch will be fantastic.

After much searching, I was abel to find the following on page "792" of Karl Kochmann's book the following. Your watch was made by Weill & Cie, Chaux-de-fonds, Switzerland, c.1900. The name "The Scout" is registered.
      The mystery is solved :-)

Jim, this is great! Your findings tie in with chinablue's comments regarding the Swiss Hallmarlks on the silver case. Mystery solved indeed. Cheers!

geo I've noticed your collection and its terrific...and sent a note but you must have missed it...
I'm keen to find my hubby an 19th century watch that has a moon and sun on it, I've seen them with a blue face and yellow sun moon and sun....do you know where I would start...? Appreciate and help you can think oh...

Hello AnneLanders, thank you very much for the compliment & appreciation. I am not an expert in 19th Century pocket watches and have only collected a few, mainly, 20th Century comic & character watches. From the description you gave, it appears that you might be looking for watch with a 'Moon Phase' dial, perhaps like this one on eBay :
      http://www.ebay.com/itm/Antique-Railway-Regulator-Moonphase-Pocketwatch-U-Willy-/141243110505?pt=UK_Jewellery_Watches_Pocket_Watches_Accessories_ET&hash=item20e2bed469

There are many versions, some cheaper and some more expensive. I guess you can search on the internet using 'Moon Phase Pocket Watch For sale' as the key words and take it from there.

Our fellow CW member Pops52 has a great vintage pocket watch collection and also very knowledgeable. Perhaps you could ask him for some expert advise.
