Hello. I received this treasure coin as a gift and I've forgotten some of the details about it. Can someone verify the date for me?
This coin was found in an unknown wreck off of Puerto Rico. There have been 4 owners (that is since it was rescued from underwater). The second bought it originally from Mel Fisher. A friend of mine bought it from this gentleman and gave it to me.
I believe it is a 2 Reales coin from 1690. I know it's dated and there is more information on the coin but I'm not very good at deciphering it. Is it Spanish, Mexican...?
The bezel is 14 kt gold. I like the way it holds the coin in prongs. I guess this style of bezel is imperative since the shape is irregular.
You have a 2 reales from what is now Bolivia, probably struck at the Potosi mint. Regardless of the sales hype from the salvagers this coin has a catalog value of about 75.00-150.00 in this condition. I am not including the value of the bezel nor do I attach any value to the fact that this could be a sea salvage coin.
Hello, Militarist. Thanks so much for your information and comments. It does seem interesting that every coin like this is from a sunken treasure :) I thought the P could be for Potosi but I'm certainly no pro on this subject. Again, thanks for the information.

It's stamped "copy" on the coin right above the 14kt mark on the bezel.
Good eye fossilhunter!!
