Ford used a Greyhound ornament for its models in 1935 (I'm not sure if any other years though). Ford's luxury brand Lincoln had been using them as hood ornaments since 1927 and continued to do so at least into the 1930's. Picked this one up for ten bucks.

The hood ornament is an aftermarket. You can tell by the hooked tail. That was done so that there were no Trade Mark violations. It is pot metal. I collect greyhound hood ornaments. I have several of the one that you have. I have 2 with patent numbers on them. They are from 1936.
