Here is a Brass Antique Trunk Lock , Dated May 1854, Has the name
    C. LIEBRICH on the left side, PHILADA on the right side and PATENTED MAY 1854 on the top. The lock is a 2-piece set, the top part fits into the bottom and locks, also has what I think is the original key which does open the lock as it should. The back shows the locking mechanism and appears to be hand made. When the key is removed from the lock a brass sliding door moves to the right (spring loaded) and covers or hides the key hole from view.
If anyone knows more about it please let me know.

That is great! Looks like the one I posted several weeks ago. I found mine with a metal detector and it also was by Liebrich.

      Here is what I found.
“Star Lock Works in Philadelphia made a variety of nice brass trunk locks for trunk makers. They didn't actually make the trunks, but they made really nice trunk locks. They were founded in 1836 by Mr. Liebrich and originally the locks were marked with C. Liebrich, Phila. and then in 1869 he retired and two partners, Hillebrand and Wolf took over the company and called it Star Lock Works. They made trunk locks and stays, keys, padlocks, latches and springs."
