This is a great fire truck. It was given to me from my father. He was born in 1945 and said it was a gift to him from a relative. I've looked high and low for markings without sucess. Its a wind-up and think its late 1940's. Has anyone seen this great item before and can help me with its maker? Thanks!
I believe this is yours made by Fischer Price . The price the seller has on it I could not verify they are in ballpark as some people set prices way to high . But it is a start for you .

Was Fisher Price around then? The link was helpful, but the ebay seller states, "George Fischer". Was this really made in Germany?

Oh I miss typed it is" Georg Fischer a German toy maker ". Not Fisher Price geesh I think the heat got to me I meant to remove E from Georg and had fisher price in my head for a moment But his name is Georg not George . Your fire truck dates from 1920-1940 . Very nice

You've been beating me soundly on these things Manikin! I'm starting to feel slow. Though, I admit, when you said Fisher Price I about had an aneurism. Haha! The mind is a funny thing, always making associations without letting you know.
This is a very nice little toy. It is in great shape and it is always great to see one with all the firemen still attached to it. Many companies were making this style of wind-up toy in the 30s, so I'd say (with out looking it up in the catalog) that this is mid-late 30s.
LOL Dr R I am surely glad to hear you aneurysm is intact and didn't burst :-)
It was a name association moment and I could not remove it after I saw what I typed . The mind does work in mysterious ways . Glad I caught it quick because we need you here on CW to share your fantastic toys no aneurysms allowed . Keep posting your toys I love them !

Your welcome gplace and sorry I had the name association stuck in my head typing and couldn't change once sent . But you do know what a great old toy you have and and who made it . I would treasure it ! Dr R is right so often parts are missing of some of the people so it is lucky to survive to share with us :-)

Yes Stef it was a name association thing . I was day dreaming or something :-) I knew what I was thinking but the name came out of my fingers not head LOL I had recently Id'd a True Fisher price and in trying to correct George which was misspelled in link I inadvertently typed Fisher Price . Of coarse when I realized it seconds later you can't remove it so got it corrected asap :-) boy between you and Dr R I am glad I got it fixed :-) It is so hot here I am surprised I can think at all . Had a yard sale going that day and I kept coming in house to cool off . But people were out and looking and buying :-)
