Years and years ago this was one of the first antique jewelry sets that I've bought; a Victorian Golden brooch with matching earrings. This set is of at least 14 k Yellow Gold (hallmarked on the c-clasp but I cannot read)and there are little rubies or garnets and pearls on the brooch and also on the earrings. It is a sweet set, although it has some damage but with the birdie on the brooch it's a typical example of jewelry from the 19th century. Don't you agree? And do you have any idea if the gems are rubies or garnets?
You always have the nicest pieces Agram !!!!

Dear fellow collectors, thanks for loving!
Keving, thanks !
This is so beautiful. By the color I'm getting on my screen, it looks like amethyst, but whatever it is, it is still beautiful.
Kathycat, thanks again for your loving but it's not Amethyst it is Rubin or Garnet (i think the last) gr. Agram.mj
Hi Agram.m,
You should take it to a local Jeweler. They will be able to tell you what gem it is. It is really hard to tell the differents between the two of them with the naked eyes.
You are right. Thanks for your advise I will do that. Kathycat
Thanks AR8Jason I think you are right it is garnet.
Thanks AmberRose for loving! I'm in contact with the Senior Editor of Collectors Weekly about my visit to the Juwel Museum in Germany. I'll hope it will become a very intesting story nice to read for our fellow jewel collectors.
