As some of you know I live in Franklin NJ,the fluorescent mineral capital of the world.( Ironically Franklinite does not fluoresce ). These minerals were discovered in the zinc mines. Once the miners realized how collectable the minerals were they started taking specimans home in their lunch boxes. The mine owners allowed this.Soon the miners were spending all their time collecting rather than working.Surprisingly enough (yep my old friend sarcasm) their lunch boxes started getting bigger and bigger. So the mine owners decided to have official mine lunch boxes.I can only imagine how many beautiful pieces made their way to daylight with a ride in this box!I got this at a Cub Scout auction about twenty years ago.
