(310 items)
I thought I would post another item from my fathers military file. This is his Separation Certificate showing the battles and campaigns he participated in. All I have is the paperwork, because he would not talk about it, and he passed away in 1992.
enjoy
I know you are Very Proud of His Service and I understand the "Won't talk about it" comment. My Older Brother was In the Korean conflict and He will abruptly change the subject when the issue comes up. Some things are too hard to talk about. Great Keepsake packrat-place!
Thanks for sharing something so personal with us.

What a great memory of your Dad who served this country and all his papers were kept . My Step dad that was in War would never talk about it either .
You must be proud you came from such a great heritage .
Great keepsake to have. Thanks for sharing it.

packrat - I'm reminded of Tim O'Brien's short story, "The Things They Carried" and how we, the survivors, also can be defined by those "things" we hold on to.
In sharing your dad's story you have also granted us insight into how his life influenced you as a young man. Thank you.
Thank you so very much for the kind words Harborguy, pw-collector, Manikin, walksoftly, petey & musikchoo. Yes, I feel very fortunate to have this.
Very nice. Do you have his medals too? He should have or is entitled to the European African Middle East Campaign medal plus the WWII Victory medal. The first one would have a small arrow head and 4 small bronze campaign stars on the ribbon. If you have a picture of him in uniform and his medals that would look really great all together in a frame.
Militarist,
Thank you for the kind words. I have not found a photo of him in full uniform yet. May by they are in the posting I did seven months ago about a box of items I had put away in storage.
Thank you very much for the love miKKoChristmas11, BELLIN68, beachbomb & mikielikesigns2.
