This is'nt my "normal" type of post, but was going threw dads war memo.s and ran across these. I was missing talking to, & B.S.ing with him so i pulled out his stuff. Not only was it cool, but brought back a VERY nice memory of going deer hunting with him & my cousin in the early 70s. We had 30-06s & just before dark he pulls out some tracer rounds. I'de never seen them before & wanted to shoot them then, he said no, let's what till dark, so we did. MAN was that COOL! We spent several days hunting, but that was the high-light. Went deer hunting with him for probably 8 years straight, never got a deer, did'nt care either, was fun just being with him. (he taught me never to take a bad shot, so i never did). Im not sure if these are 30-06 rounds, there marked F..A..51, they appear to be the right size (approx.) but dont know for sure. He brought back many things from WW2, including 2-30-06 Springfield rifles, but these tracer rounds are worth more than you could imagine.(to me).Dads still hanging on at 90, but alzhimers is taking it's toll on his memory, but not mine, thank you dad.

I believe that the headstamp is for Frankford Arsenal and the date of mgf. on these is 1951. Great military keepsake and even greater keepsake of the times spent with your Dad. I'm glad he's still with you and all of us are indebted to men like your Father.

Thank you very much mrmajestic1, so these are post-war rounds? Is it legal to sell/buy tracer rounds then/today?
    5. mrmajestic1 mrmajestic1, 12 years ago
As with a lot of gun laws they can change state to state. Buying tracer rounds must not be illegal because you can buy them almost anywhere that sells ammo, on the 'net. However one should check with local and state laws to be safe.
I have some tracer rounds myself but to me they are only for collecting.

Once again I've let my mouth overload my knowledge. These are actually rounds to fire grenades with but I'm sure they would still give a nice light show in the dark.

as a 12=13 yr. old i really just remember the flame shoot-out, & the campfire, little things, you know. You ever walked past something/someplace, & you catch a hint of a smell & it takes you back somewhere? Unlocking a hidden memory, thats one of the perks of living.(getting older)

I have walked down that memory lane every day of the last few years and this is such a good place to trigger those thoughts.
