Another market purchase many moons ago that has found a spot in the shed. Not a huge amount is to be known on the web about this Australian made stock knife.
Two blades and a pair of tweezers secreted in the handle. There is missing another piece from the nicely shaped handle which is called a Marlin Spike sometimes also called a Hoof Pick. This is very useful for assisting with splicing rope and even wire rope, it can also be used for opening drink cans and picking stones out of the tread on boots. A pity it’s missing! The main blade has “Premium Stock Knife” etched on it and has “Shelham /3265/ Australia” engraved on one side of the tang and “Surgical Steel / Made in Japan” on the obverse.
The company was an Australian firm Sheldon and Hammond Pty Ltd Asquith NSW, Australia. It seems they sourced their blades in Japan and did work for the Australian Military.

Many thanks Sean! These are for stockmen, the Australian version of 'cowboys'. Please excuse the sexist terms!

I have 1 that is almost identical except it is inscribed Stainless Steel and Made in Japan on the reverse of the blade. My knife has the tooth pick and the tweezers intact. I would love to know its age and some more of the history surrounding its purpose. I bought it in an auction of an old homestead chattels near Scone in NSW years ago.
