When my grandmother passed away 22 years ago, this picture was one of the things she left me. I have no idea how old the picture is or its origin. This picture means so much to me. I have always loved it. I would love to know more about this picture so I can tell my children more about it. I have taken it to a few antique dealers who could tell me nothing. No one had ever seen another picture like it. I do know the picture is at least 35 years old. Please, if any one should recognized this picture and provide me with a little history, it would mean so much too me. I have became ill and I am trying to give my daughter as much history about my family as possible. We both adore this picture but not knowing where it came from takes some of the enjoyment out of having it. I not interested in value just knowledge. I thank you in advance for any information that could be provided.
Can you post a picture of the back? (You can have four pics.) The background appears to be fabric on board. The instrument appears too shallow to be an actual instrument. Perhaps it is meant to be a comment on music in the south (southern plantation). Is it possible that she made it?
Thanks for your response. I have added a picture of the back, yes you are correct, the back is fabric on board. I also felted the picture was southern but unsure of the time frame. I know the picture was given too her but I can not recall who gave her the picture. Again, thanks for your help and any future help you may have.
hi
just my opinion but it reminded me of a picture i saw a while ago. the picture i saw had a ripp in it that was not repairable so the owner had used a clock face to cover the hole and it worked well, just wondered if this could be a similar thing ?
