That's my only Nanny Still piece. I bought it recently frome an ebay trader who didn't know what it was and didn't put Still's name in his object description. So I got a relatively modest price. I really love the Harlekiini series, but I hesitate because of their prices nowadays. I know that the Harlekiini design is normally in blue but it seems to exist in green also, even if it's more dfficult to find pictures. Is here anybody who can tell the story of this series? I suppose that it was also expensive when it was new. It's original but some pieces seem more display pieces than for every day use.
WOOOOOOW, you've got it in green!!!!
Apparently Nanny Still never gave her permission for the green colour in the Harlekiini series so Riihimäki Lasi had to stop making it after a short time into production, that's why the green Hatlekiini are so rare.
You're absolutely right about the prices... they're ridiculously high! I got mine "pretty cheaply"... meaning not half the prices they usually ask for, but stillota low price. Congratulations on this amazing find!
@austrohungaro. Thank you for this information. In a way, I think, she was right: It's better in blue, even if I like the green color, too. Is it possible that they didn't facricate all the pieces in green? Where do you know the story from - I think there is a book about Nanny Still, isn't it?
That sticker is great too!
Can somebody tell me a little more about the Harlekiini series? Are there books about Nanny Still or Rihimaki catalogues?
My Finnish "dealer" told me about it (if glass's my drug, then she's my dealer LOL)
I have got three books on Nanny Still:
-Nanny Still. Ilmatar-Skymaiden. Although the main subject is also her art-work, it displays 20 catalogue-like pages... qutecomplete but not all of her work appears there.
-Nanny Still, 45 years of design/45 ans de design - which is the catalogue for an exhibition held at both the Riihimäki Lasimuseo and the Glass museum of Charleroi, in Belgium. The text is good and it has two pages where it displays a sort of catalogue of her design work.
-Nanny Still. Sana-Szó-Word. It also is the catalogue of her art glass work, held at both the Riihimäki lasimuseo and the Iparmüvészety Múzeum in Budapest.
There's a fourth book "Nanny Still" published as a catalogue for her 2001 exhibition at the Amos Andersson Art Museum, but have never got the chance to get it.
@austrohungaro Thank you! Perhaps I should console myself in buying the books. But even the books are difficult to find! I ordered the Amos Andersson-catalogue some day ago and will tell you whether it's interesting.
@ scandinavian_pieces Thank you for the link to the book page. Like that I saw for the first time the cover of the Amos Andersson-catalogue. I hope it arrives tomorrow! I would also like to have all the other books!
I'll tell you as soon as I get it!
Thanks Cobalt! I'm curious about the book too!
just saw one from the Harlequin series in a cherise color model nr 1230
