This is an original poster from D. Buchner & Co. advertising their Gold Coin Chewing Tobacco product. These posters are EXTREMELY rare, and I believe this particular poster image is the only one of it's kind to survive. It dates back to the late 1800's. It is in poor condition with missing paper, but the colors are still very vibrant! The poster measures approximately 12" x 28"
This appears to be an ad from the N.Y. based tobacco makers D. Buchner & Co. advertising a free "Gold Coin Tobacco Present" to chewers of Gold Coin Tobacco who were willing to trade in 150 lapped coin labels that they have collected. D. Buchner & Co. was one of many tobacco manufactures that chose to utilize cardboard subjects of baseball players to promote their tobacco brand products. They would insert colorful drawings of baseball players, actors, firemen, policemen, and jockeys within its packs of Gold Coin Chewing Tobacco. Those cardboard subjects (Trading Cards) that survived, are highly collectible and very rare.
This panel sized poster has been in my family for generations and has just recently surfaced from one of our storage units.
UPDATE:
I had this poster completely restored to it's original condition. It was professionally removed from it's old backing, re-mounted onto linen, and had some restoration done to bring this poster back to excellent condition!
The picture and coloring is just so pretty.
The camera doesn't do this poster justice. Similar to stone lithographs, the colors on this poster are MUCH more vibrant in person! Thanks for the love, it is appreciated.
Update: Restored back to it's original condition.
Thanks bratjdd, glad you like it.
Thanks BELLIN68, much appreciated.
