Illinois watch that survived car/train crash. This belonged to my fraternal grandfather's brother who worked for the railroad. In 1923 his car stalled on the tracks & was hit. He his wife & 16 mo. old daughter were killed. Guess this was the only survivor. Had it cleaned & it still works.
Don't know if this qualifies as a railroad watch. He didn't make it to the 50 yr. mark anyway.

If you can post a photo of the movement and give us the serial number on the movement, maybe we can help identify it for you. The back should unscrew off, turning left.
Looking at my Roy Ehrhardt, Illinois Identification book, it looks like a 16 size, number 8303 double sunk dial with Extra Heavy Spade, Wine Color no. 9535 hour hand & no. 9536 minute hand.

I appreciate it but the watch is in KY & I live in St. Maarten. I will ask my sister & see if she will do it. Thanks, I didn't know such details could be found out.

pw-coll, I have mailed my sister & asked her to open it & get the info.. I would sell it except it is a family heirloom with history but left it with my sister as I've had open-heart with expiration date on my heel. Am curious about it's value?
If she sends the info, I will forward it on this site.
