I found this in the early 70's and believe it to be from the 40's. Right now it's used to store car wash stuff and I need the room and am thinking of getting rid of it.
Can anyone tell me if this cooler is worth saving? | ||

It is from the 70's. I'm sure it has value to someone, it's not one you see very often. If you're just going to chuck it though, chuck it my way lol!!
I found it in the basement of an OLD tire store, VERY dirty and dusty. Thats why I assumed it to be from the forties or fifties.
Since you said it's not one you see very often I guess it does have some value. The shipping would be expensive, so that probably precludes me from, selling it on Ebay. (Don't know how anyway!) But if I put it up on Craigs List here in Atlanta, how much should I ask?
The logo is on the front and back only. I searched the box for identification, but the manufacturer wasn’t proud enough to put their name on it. It does say “Model 181” and “Patent 2767948”.Researching the patent # tells me it was probably made by “Progress” and the wave logo dates it as post 1969
Researching at soda-machines.com, with the progress name reveals:
SPECIFICATIONS:

Comments: The Progress Line of Coolers were generally used at Special Events like football games, carnivals, festivals and other gatherings of people. Removable lids hindged in the center were optional as was the Portable Bar. The Optional Bar consists of a Formica top with satin aluminum trim and a heavy vinyl plastic curtain to conceal the cooler. The Model 181 came with a Starr X Bottle Opener and Cap Catcher.
However this one never had the bottle opener. (no holes in cabinet) It apparently did have a removable shelf inside at one time because there are ledges inside to support it.
So are we still in the $100 to $150 range?
