I believe this is a primitive blanket chest. The boards are wide and don't have circular saw marks. We've had it since the 50s and this is probably a Kentucky, Virginia or Ohio piece. I don't know the wood but I suspect it is cherry and maple. One of the great features is that the maker used the darker/lighter wood colors to great design effect. Any help in identifying this would be most appreciated.
