I BOUGHT THIS FROM A DEALER AT THE FLEA MARKET JUST BECAUSE OF IT'S UNUSUAL CONFIGURATION. I HAVE NO IDEA AS TO WHAT IT IS, IT IS MARKED IS INTERNATIONAL SILVER CO. SILVER SOLDERED. THERE IS AN ILLEGIBLE NUMBER BELOW THAT. ANY IDEAS? OVERALL 12 INCHES LONG BY 4 INCHES AT THE WIDEST POINT.
that is for ice cream (it's you usual ice cream spoon)....also used for pudding or jelly...but not too often...
I've not seen a utensil exactly like this. May I ask, is the narrow section with the indents deeper than the other (parallel) portion of the utensil end? At first, I thought that perhaps this was an unusual form of crumber. But, on second thought, not my best guess. I'll never seen an ice cream spade/scythe/knife/master server that looked like this. Hope someone identifies it.
Yes the narrower is deeper of the two.
Hi. It's a crumber / crumb tray. What threw me off is that that both of the rectangular components that comprise the utensil end APPEAR to be curved. Perhaps, however, the broader unit is not curved? In any case, I found a similar one on ebay. Yours would need a brush. Here's the one on ebay. (Don't be glum over the starting price of the auction. Crumbers are a popular item.) Nice find!

Most unusual, it does appear to be curved, so not sure on the crumb tray.
Hi, walksoftly! I value your input. I didn't find an example of any master serving piece like this in Noel D. Turner's "American Silver Flatware 1837 - 1910". So I looked on ebay and saw the linked item. I think it's close, and since there's a brush or scraper involved, possibly the curve didn't much matter. Hopefully, if it's something other than a crumber, yourself or one of our CW confreres will identify it. : )
Another tack one might take is to identify the pattern, and then look for a company brochure of the line.
THE INPUT IS APPRECIATED EVERYONE. I BOUGHT THIS FOR $4.00 JUST BECAUSE OF ITS UNIQUE CONFIGURATION. I LIKE THE UNUSUAL OR ODD.
