It looks like a hat. It has bubbles in it. No other markings. Could this be a blown glass hat? It doesn't look like a top hat. Also, how would I know if it's antique or vintage? Thank you for your help.

it's for cakes...*when you make a birthday cake or something like that....you need to make the base...at first it's liquid...right...?you poor that in the mold and after you bake it...you turn it upside down and you got a round base...:)

Huh? It would be a tiny cake because it is not more than 6 inches. Wow I am stunned.
A cupcake okay... so back in the days this is the way they baked? Because I never saw this before. This is glass, wouldn't it crack or shatter in the oven? I don't think this is corningware.
Could it be for placing over a seed/seedling one is trying to encourage and protect? Like a small garden cloche?
well...i got 1 in my home...but it's factory made...logo and everything...(it's tempered glass...it doesn't break)...that does look a bit amateur made...or unsold piece cause of production defect?...it's called iena/yena or jena glass...you can cook anything in it...from chicken to cake...comes in different sizes...square rectangular round...the most known is the oval one...but they come in different zises and shapes..:)
19th century Whimsy Glass Top Hat is my guess. I would love to have it in my collection.
