This is a tall table lamp. It is 23" tall not including the finial. The stamp on the bottom is "8779A1" and a separate letter that is either an "M" or a "W". The sockets are Leviton. I don't believe the shade is original to the lamp. Either that or the finial is not original (or both maybe). The reason I question the shade is that much of the long leaf detail on the side of the lamp is kindof hidden by the shade. I'm not that familiar with lamps but am becoming quite addicted to them. Soon I should invest in some guide books....but be that as it may, any help with identification would be great. There are more photo links below.

    Specifically,

    1. Leaded glass....would this be considered slag? It's a smokey green color with a few white swirls.

    2. Maker?

    3. Time frame....my guess is early 1900s?

    4. Type of metal?

    5. A marraige of lamp and shade?

    6. Any suggestions for good lamp/lighting guide books?

Many of these shades were made by American Bent Glass co out of Hartford, CT in the 20's to 40's . They must have made a lot because they appear quite often and inexpensively on ebay.
