Sometimes the packaging can be almost more beautiful than the glass. A couple or really rare things here; a fine pair of Monart dishes, in their original tartan/plaid boxes c1935. Monart glass was made by the Ysart family for the Scottish glass makers Moncrieffs –forming the name Mon-Art from the two names. The Ysart’s supposedly learnt a lot of their trade whilst working for Schneider in France, before decided, very sensibly, that Scotland was a quieter place to live than early 20th century Paris. The glass may not look very Scottish, but that packaging definitely does. I was lucky to get these 9 years ago from a major Monart auction.
