I recently found this lamp and would love to know more about it.

The light works and there seems to be oil in the bottom, but I have no clue how it works.

My parents had one of these. All I know is as a child I loved to watch the oil run down the strings and when no one was around, I would touch the oil. Lol. Just plug it in and enjoy! The light heats the oil. There must be a pump inside, because I remember the oil running down the strings from the top down.

The oil in ours is mineral oil, have used olive oil before, but it will draw an odor after about 2 weeks.

Should have stated the oil is pumped from the bottom through the tubes on the sides, then it pools and run downs the strings to be pumped up to the top again.

You can get the oil at Wal Mart, believe it or not. It also comes in colors such as blue and amber.
