These are just a few of the finds I have come across during my exploring mine sites in and around Silverton, Co.
1. Wood piece on left. I believe this was a toy at one time. There are old nails which held a handle I assume. There is a notch for another piece of wood to slide into. Found by creek bed near Silverton.
2. Tall bottle was for ale. Found at Sunnyside Mine near Silverton. 1920s.
3. Small bottle was for ink. Dug up at Sunnyside Mine, Silverton, Co.
4. The razor is Gillette Pat. Date 1929. Dug up at Sunnyside Mine, near Silverton, Co.
5. The round ball is iron. It was used in a tumbler along with many other balls to crush ore when looking for gold. Weight is 10 pounds. Found at the Howardsville mill site on the ground. From 1900.
6. Small metal piece is a drill bit used on old drills that went into the rock. From around 1900. Found at Aspen Town mill site just out side Silverton.
In time, I either give such items to the local mining museum in Silverton or, I give them back to the mountains.
Bellin68 I love finding this stuff. Not long ago, someone found an 1890's revolver at a site high up in the mountains.
