This is my 1946 McDonough 54" vertical band re-saw. 31' circumference x 6" wide blade, 6,000lbs +. Used to cut beveled siding, re-saw cants from sawmill, and stock for pallet making (and anything else you can imagine I guess!)
I purchased the saw in 2007 to support my 00 Frick sawmill, but sold the sawmill in 2009, so this has been idle since then. It was powered by a Detroint 3-53N power unit, but I am currently re-building a 1950's Buda HP-326 inline 6 gasoline unit to power it.
Despite the size, it runs exceptionally smooth and true (a good thing I am certain!) but does require a few minutes to slow to a stop once the power is shut off!
