THIS IS AN UNUSUAL VINTAGE WOOD HIGH CHAIR,HAS BEEN REPAINTED(BUT NOT RECENTLY)..HAS NO MAKER ,THAT I FIND.I HAVE NOT SEEN ONE LIKE IT. I THINK IT COULD BE 30'S OR 40'S. IT HAS BEEN SUGGESTED 50'S BUT THE LEATHER STRAP AND SNAP APPEAR MUCH OLDER. THE FOOT REST IS ADJUSTABLE . IT IS ATTACHED TO A COPPER STRIP ON BOTTOM OF SEAT.WITH TINY PEGS STICKING OUT OF THE BACK OF THE LEG REST.VERY COOL. ANY COMMENTS WILL BE APPRECIATED.
Looks to be almost the 1920's. Possibly one of a kind made as a gift for a family member? I would assume the original color would have been white or off white?
Could even be a Stork craft brand??
I don't think it's one of a kind (like grampa made it etc, but I can see why one would think that),,and strap looks about 1920 the way it has aged..I see white paint and also a very light blue green, like a light pastel green...I looked all over the computer trying to find another no luck..Thanks for your comment...
Awwww....Sweet!
Wish things were made like that Today !!
I have one very similar in a natural wood color, with the storks painted in burgundy. The difference is that the tray on mine is smaller and rectangular, and there are supports on the top of the legs. Also, the wings of the storks are actually cut in scallops rather than just being painted on relatively straight wood. It was given to my mother in 1943 in Los Angeles. She is 93 now and thinks she remembers it was delivered from Robinson's department store.
The one in the picture is probably a little younger than the one I have, in that it no longer seems to be an art deco design, but a little smoother, more rounded, and less detailed, like 1950's styling.
