These old slides depict some Norfolk & Western Steam power.
1. The Powhatan Arrow near Singer, VA in December, 1949
2. The Tennessean near Roanoke, VA. This may have been a Southern Railway train riding on the N&W's rails, using an N&W engine.
3. This is the N&W's Pochohontas pictured near Ripplemeade, VA.
Great photos!
Thank you. walksoftly! Those old slides cleaned up nicely via a feature on my scanner, and a little photo editing. The B/Ws were originally also color, but they were so far gone, that the color could not be restored.
Trains are an interest of mine, and so are old photographs, so I especially appreciate this group of slides.
And for you, and also for all of my other Canadian friends...Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanking each of you for your loves on these pictures!
Thanks for the greetings Ted.
I love old photo's as well, & have always had an interest in steam & the construction of the RR's.
