This two small vases belong to the PALA series by Helena Tynell. PALA is certainly one of Tynell's most popular designs (but not as much as Aurinkopullo, of course, that was designed in the very same year: 1964).
They were made in a myriad of colours and in so many sizes I cannot now recall... the smaller one is the one I've got in a brighter blue (the other one stands 11 cm. tall), and I think the biggest PALA stands over 20 cm. tall. As for the shapes there is at least 4 different... you can get these, one simmilar but with a lower bottom, and other with one or two more "floors".
PALA is the Finnish word for "piece" and as they seem to be stackable, I guess they so become a "piece" in a construcción...
Shape is fantastic. I like a square shape. Almost chimney??
How are you lovely?
Thanks Amber! It's been almost two weeks without posting here, although I've been visiting and comenting all of your stuff.
Things are more or lest the same...
Nice, Tynell created some really good designs.
Thanks for sharing.
Here we are again: classcial modernist! Simple and good. Do you konw something about the technique of fabrication. Blown into a form? Not possible in this shape, is it? Press glass? I don't know enough about these subjects.
I guess they're blown into a mould... i see no other possibility for this shape.
Thanks lass, LLL, vet, MacArt, ozmarty, mustangtony, miKKoChristmas11 and Scandi for your loves!
thanks bratjdd! That little piece of glass is a real beauty!
