This is a vase that I have never been able to correctly identify. I do think it is of Bohemian area of the world and had thought it may be Loetz Mamorettes.....but am not sure. It is about 9 inches tall and is cased with a white layer of glass inside. Can anyone help me?
it's not loetz marmorietes. marmorietes is a stone glass, that is glass made to resemble stones. This doesn't look like a stone. it looks like king tut glass.
Who is King Tut glass made by.....i have seen Quezal glass shades in King Tut pattern before.
king tut was made by many many companies. I really don't think this was made by quezal. :) It was a very popular pattern.

also it's been made by quite a few contemporary artists.
I know many things are remade by contemporary artists.....but this vase appears old, not of recent manufacture. Nice wear on base and a very distinct gold painted stripe around outside top edge that is heavily worn , does not show in the pictures..... and I do Thank everyone for their input....how else can we learn.. :-)
To clarify: many makers copied the pattern we are calling King Tut here. But it was Durand that gave it the name. Similar in the way that Tiffany named their iridescent glass Favrile and Steuben named theirs Aurene. Today, many makers/ craftsman use the name for contemporary works but it was a "Trademark" name that is now long diluted/shared in the marketplace.

yeah, I don't think it's a new piece but I also don't think it's one of the premier makers of glass. I'd expect a polished pontil with a design like this if it were.
a good maker.. just not a loetz, durand or quezal type of thing.
I thought it was Tiffany that first made that kind of glass?

...and Tiffany may have been the first to make a randomly applied design like this, but it was Durand that coined the name. Thats all...it applies to the name of the design when made by Durand, not the exclusive rights to the design itself.
