This is another lamp I just bought. Was wondering about the maker of these lamps. Very very old. The only marking on it is near the sockets and says Benjamin 250w. I have no idea what that means. It appears to be all original but needs a new cord. The cord is cloth and the plug looks kind of scary, I dont really trust it. But it worked when I plugged it in. Nothing blew up or caught on fire. Lol. Any info would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Anna.
Hi Anna - If you do a search for Benjamin lamp socket, I believe you will find some useful information. Good luck!
Thank you, I will try that route. : )
Benjamin made lamp parts, but not whole lamps. Many of these "Arts and Crafts" style lamps were made by lamp companies, but quite a few were made by High School students in shop class. Some of them are very good and sought after by collectors. Yours is nice and I would say worth in the area of $250.00-350.00
Thank you for sharing
Thank you very much for the info johannB! : )
I collect these wood lamps. Most of the ones that survive today were built by the W.B Brown Company in Bluffton, Indiana -- which operated from about 1905 to 1923. Some are marked with that name but many are not. A digital 500-page catalog from that company has been reproduced and is still available on eBay I believe. I am not sure if this is a Brown lamp or not. I will try to go through the Brown catalog and see if this lamp is pictured. Another company that made beautiful wood lamps was the Daisy Lamp Company in Fairbeault, Minnesota
