I would really like to know what this is my mother found it in my great-grandfathers storm celler in missouri about 1976. Was told at one time that it is a chinese water vase but have no idea. The dragon and the other details look like some kind of sand or grainy texture of some kind its not very light weighs at least couple of pounds. Its clay or some other kind of pottery. I am very facinated by it what is it? where is it from? Is it Chinese, Korean or Japaneese???

Its called Dragonware, a type of moriage, Japanese. Its not complete though, it had something in the middle, like a glass insert or something. Some pieces can be valuable, but since its incomplete, this one probably isn't. Sorry :[

Thank you for the help im glad to finally know somethng about this. Im really not concerned about the value just what it is. What would it be used for? What year could it be from?

I think its was made from like 1930's-50's

I'd need to see photos of the underside to know what it was used for. I'm not even sure what I'm looking at

There isnt a flat bottom just the front and back where they meet all the way around. But i will add one of the inside.
