This post is for Manikin, the Doctor of souls and all manner of injured dolls.
I found these three delightful wooden cats at a thrift store in Olympia, Washington in 2004. I suspect that they are imports, perhaps from the Philippines? Two are damaged, and two look like they might be missing an accessory.
The large cream and black spotted cat is missing his forearm. He seems a peaceable creature, and seems quite content. The striped fellow is my favorite. He has obviously taken a few spills because both of his ears are chewed up, and the previous owner applied aluminum foil over the edges. I assume that the foil was a repair and that previous owner wasn’t using cat as the base of a TV antenna. However, he does look a bit frazzled. Do you think he could be in a trance? His outstretched arms meet, and there is a hole in the center. Do you suppose he might be an incense burner??? The small black spotted cat beside him has the same hole. I am enchanted by the striped cat, and delighted with the trio, boo-boo’s and all. They are perfect for Halloween. We bid you all ‘A Merry Hallows’ Eve!’ BOO!
MiKKo what a wonderful display ! Love it !!! and oh I also love the doll in background have you posted her ? I am so glad you save these treasures from a trash can and give them new life :-D
Thank you very much, dear Manikin! I thought you might like these rascal cats. REF the holes in the 'hands' on the two little ones, Scandi emailed me that she thinks that they used to hold fishing poles. She reported that a friend of hers has/had one or more of the little ones. What a coincidence. : )
I have been wanting to show you the dolls, but I have always failed to capture a decent image of them, so I kept putting off posting them. Tonight, however, since you asked, I am pleased to post them for you. I know that you will keep in mind that they are much better in person, and that you will love them. Thank you very much for your very kind words all! : ) Link to dolls below.

Thank you very much, PhilDavidAlexanderMorris!! : )
A very mischievous group -- they have all been up to something -- but what pray-tell ?
Ah, dear trunkman! I am so very sorry to learn that they preyed upon your monkey's tail. I understand that they dipped it into an inkwell! Ah, me - ever since the Scottie chewed up their fishing poles they've not been themselves. Day after day they sit on the mantle with a glazed-over stare. I was so glad that they went out to play today. I'm very sorry! In future, Col. Skotte will monitor the cats when Monkey visits - if he visits! I understand that, at Christmas time, James Thurber's mother used to sent a large box of chocolates to everyone whom their dog had bitten that year. (Chocolates were hard to come by in those days.) Do you think Monkey would like a box of chocolates? : )
Mikko -- Mr. Monkey has been snickering all week. I finally challenged him to show me his tail. I was surprised to see no ink stain. He told me that he had switched out the ink for the invisible variety unbeknown to those mischievous cats. ''Well played" I told him, and promptly rewarded him with his favorite peanut butter cups. You can tell Col. Skotte to "stand down" as it appears Mr. Monkey has things well in hand!
Good show, Mr. Monkey! Are you free to babysit on weekends?
Glad your simian comrade is so perceptive, wise, and proactive, trunkman! A good ally for trunk sleuthing! Col. Skotte is now snickering. Cats still in a trance, but I fear it won't last. As soon as the Halloween candy is gone, there's bound to be trouble....

Hi, kerry10456! Many thanks for this delightful Santa Troll!!! : ) Not quite sure that he's a troll. Might be a Leprechaun under that beard. In any case, he's be a delightful guest -- and a hand-full. Good luck!
miKKo, we'll keep an eye on him, might have to sleep in shifts tonight, new addition.
