This is why I love imperial awards. These are not even "fancy" awards and yet they are executed with such beauty and craftsmanship that it is hard not to look at them.

On this bar we have, first and foremost, the bravery awards. Up front is the ubiquitous Iron Cross 2nd Class. Next is the Hanseatic Cross (which was equivalent to the EK2), followed by the Prussian State Silver Merit Medal (awarded up to 1915, but likely from service before 1900), then the Prussian 25 year long service medal, and lastly the Kaiser Wilhelm I Centenary Medal.

This is my first medal bar, and I have to say I'm in love!

Notice how the bar was padded with ribbon scraps. Looks like some Saxon and Brunswick ribbons, fun!

Nice one! The Hanseatic Cross is the Hamburg issue. Bremen and Lubeck also issued their own version. The ribbon padding scraps on the back are interesting. Since these bar groups were privately mounted I guess that is to be expected.

Indeed, one of these days I'm going to have to get the other two, personally I like the Bremen design the most.

      Thanks guys!
